Wikipedia tells us that a sluice is a water channel controlled at its head by a gate. It also says that this piece of equipment is typically a wood or metal barrier sliding in grooves that are set in the sides of the waterway. And that they are used to control water levels and flow rates in rivers and canals.
So if you’ve ever been down inside a dam, you will know that there is a sluice gate in there to help control water flow. You will also know that over time this piece of equipment succumbs to the effects of erosion/corrosion and needs to be repaired/rebuilt so that it will perform as designed.
I was down in the Hoover Dam in Columbus a number of years ago and we were applying a protective coating to their sluice gate. We were working with a contractor and they grit blasted the substrate, wiped it down with M.E.K. and then roller applied two coats of Belzona 1341 (Supermetalglide).
We’ve done quite a few of those here in the Midwest for our local dams. I’m attaching a few pictures so you can get a visual of what a proper protection system looks like for this application. Longevity is what we provide for you. We are experts in reclaiming worn and damaged equipment.
Please let us know how we can help you repair, protect and improve your component equipment.
